RDC-7 calls for online renewal of driver's license

  (Land Transportation Management System website/PIA file photo) CEBU CITY, Cebu, Sept. 30 (PIA) -- The Regional Development Council Central Visayas (RDC-7) has requested the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to fully implement the online renewal of Philippine driver's license and come up with parameters as to who are qualified for such service. The RDC-7 made the request in a resolution endorsed during the third quarter full council meeting held virtually on Sept. 17, 2021. The LTO is already implementing its partial automation in application and renewal through its Land Transportation Management System (LTMS) launched in May 2020, which allows applicants to secure appointments at their preferred LTO office, upload their requirements, and pay for license fees online in order to prevent long queues at the LTO licensing offices. Siquijor hospital caters to all patients amid COVID-19 surge

LARENA, Siquijor, Sept. 30 (PIA) -- Despite the surge of COVID-19 cases in the province, not a single patient is left waiting outside of the Provincial Hospital.  This is according to newly designated Officer-in-Charge George Walthrode Opay of the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) during the Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force meeting on Sept. 28.  “ Wala ta’y patient nag-atang sa gawas, admitted silang tanan (We have no patients waiting outside),” said Opay as he laid down his plans and measures to properly manage the ongoing COVID-19 crisis in the province.  “I really want to be aggressive in curbing this COVID-19,” he said, noting that the behavior of the virus in Siquijor is likely that of the Delta variant with the rising number of reported and unreported cases.  Opay said with the COVID-19 patients now transferred to the new hospital in Caipilan, Siquijor, they now have 163 beds which are all occupied, from a total bed capacity of 75 at the old hospital.  FILE PHOTO:  Th

Reg’l IATF monitors surge of COVID-19 cases in Siquijor

The Provincial IATF meeting attended by some members of the RIATF MEID.   SIQUIJOR, Siquijor, Sept. 29 (PIA) -- The Regional Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (RIATF MEID) is now closely monitoring the surge of COVID-19 cases in Siquijor province.   During the Provincial IATF virtual meeting attended by the Department of Health (DOH), Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and other member agencies on Sept. 28, DOH-7 Regional Director Jaime Bernadas said the critical part of the response is the cooperation of the barangay officials, barangay health emergency and response teams (BHERTs), and health workers at the local government unit and DOH.  Bernadas said that short of capability of testing, the role of the barangay health workers and officials in the surveillance and monitoring are critical because they are at the forefront. COVID-19 cases surge in Siquijor province; Residents urged to cooperate

SIQUIJOR, Siquijor, Sept. 28 (PIA) -- COVID-19 cases continue to surge in the province of Siquijor which already logged a total of 866 active cases, with 104 new cases, 459 recoveries, and 10 deaths as of Sept. 27 based on data from the Department of Health Central Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH-7).  On Sept. 24, Siquijor province recorded a total of 203 new COVID-19 cases based on the DOH case bulletin, the highest since the start of the pandemic in 2020, said Zella Maye Samson of the Provincial DOH here. (Contributed photo) DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Sept. 20 (PIA) -- A total of P4.3 million has been distributed to 874 COVID-19 patients as financial assistance at P5,000 each from Dumaguete City.  Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo said the financial aid to the patients who tested positive for COVID-19 is another program of the city to help those in crisis situation amid the pandemic. This is also in response to the loss of income of patients and their expenditures while in isolation and treatment, Remollo said. DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Sept. 16 (PIA) -- The Dumaguete City Health Office (CHO) has already administered 53,569 doses of COVID-19 vaccines to eligible 31,685 city residents as of Sept. 14.  The vaccinees have received Sinovac, Astrazeneca, Moderna, Pfizer, and Janssen jabs.  Dr. Maria Sarah Talla of CHO said that 1,146 individuals also received their COVID-19 jabs in the two vaccination sites at Pulantubig Gym and Robinson Place, particularly those who returned to get their second doses on Sept. 15.   Of the 31,685 eligible residents vaccinated, 2,409 are medical frontliners (A1); 7,305 senior citizens (A2); 7,948 persons with comorbidities (A3); 9,270 frontline personnel (A4); and 4,753 indigent persons (A5) were inoculated based on the order of priority of the Department of Health. Pamplona extends livelihood programs for women amid pandemic
