TaRSIER 117, Best Affiliate Unit sa AFP

Steel hanging bridge to be built in NegOr town

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Feb. 3 (PIA) -- A 50-meter long cable suspended steel hanging bridge will be built in Brgy. Abis, Mabinay town by the GMA Kapuso Foundation, Inc. (GMAKFI). GMAKFI officials together with officials from the Philippine Army (PA) led by Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Visayas Commanding Officer LtGen. Benedict Arevalo and PA 302nd Infantry Brigade Commander BGen. Leonardo Peña, and the Mabinay local government recently led the ceremonial groundbreaking and signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to formally the start the project. The hanging bridge will be built over Cansana-an River with the project cost pegged at P6-M. Residents were assured that the hanging bridge will be able to endure a 300kph wind speed or water current and can carry a five-ton load. DPWH, AFP, PNP ramp up road clearing operations in CV

  CEBU CITY, Cebu, Dec. 28 (PIA) -- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) together with the Visayas Command Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) have conducted full scale road clearing operations in various areas in Central Visayas recently affected by Typhoon "Odette" (International name: Rai) last Dec. 16. The DPWH has deployed heavy equipment for debris clearing while the AFP provided its own personnel and also heavy equipment to assist in the clearing operations in areas heavily damaged by the typhoon. The Armed Forces deployed a backhoe, road grader, pay loader, two dump trucks and around 17 personnel for road clearing at the municipalities of Carcar to Barili, Barili to Ronda, and Balamban to Tuburan in Cebu Province. The team has cleared the 20-kilometer (km) National Highway from Toledo City to Pinamungajan, and 20 km National Highway from Aloguinsan to Mantalongon, Barili.
