Dgte serves over 53K vax doses

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Sept. 16 (PIA) -- The Dumaguete City Health Office (CHO) has already administered 53,569 doses of COVID-19 vaccines to eligible 31,685 city residents as of Sept. 14. 

The vaccinees have received Sinovac, Astrazeneca, Moderna, Pfizer, and Janssen jabs. 

Dr. Maria Sarah Talla of CHO said that 1,146 individuals also received their COVID-19 jabs in the two vaccination sites at Pulantubig Gym and Robinson Place, particularly those who returned to get their second doses on Sept. 15.  

Of the 31,685 eligible residents vaccinated, 2,409 are medical frontliners (A1); 7,305 senior citizens (A2); 7,948 persons with comorbidities (A3); 9,270 frontline personnel (A4); and 4,753 indigent persons (A5) were inoculated based on the order of priority of the Department of Health.

Five government employees and two pupils (as young as five years old) are among the 27 newly-confirmed COVID-19 cases along with 15 recoveries reported on Sept. 16.

Dumaguete City currently has 116 active COVID-19 cases with 2,972 recoveries and 82 deaths since the pandemic affected the city from Jan. 30, 2020 to Sept. 15. (JCT/PIA7 Negros Oriental with reports from CHO)

DSWD implements full online processing of minor travel clearance

  CEBU CITY, Cebu (PIA) – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Central Visayas has announced that applications for minors traveling abroad are now exclusively processed online. Starting February 2025, the Centralized Processing Office – Minors Traveling Abroad (CPO-MTA) will process applications exclusively through its online platform at mta.dswd.gov.ph. DSWD7 Children Sector focal person Ligaya Dael said the shift to online processing aims to streamline the issuance of travel clearances for minors. “We can provide assistance on the online application process if they go to our office since it is still in a transition period but it is still online,” Dael said during the recent Kapihan sa PIA forum. Cebu hosts 1st Philippine Tourism Dive Dialogue

  CEBU CITY (PIA) -- The Department of Tourism (DOT) kicked off its first Philippine Tourism Dive Dialogue in Cebu on September 14, 2023, which gathered over 300 dive tourism stakeholders in the country. The two-day dialogue aims to address current issues in diving tourism, promote collaboration among public and private stakeholders, advocate for sustainable practices, discussions on safety, standards, and accreditation of tourism-related establishments (TREs) for scuba diving, and the exploration of promising investment opportunities within the dive industry to foster the growth of dive tourism in the Philippines.
