  TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, Jan. 27 (PIA) --The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bohol Third District Engineering Office assured that the Makapiko Bridge remains safe and passable to motorists even if there has been some soil erosion at the bottom part of the said structure. The DPWH Bohol Third District Engineering Office released a public advisory on Jan. 26, after the office received calls of concern on a post circulating on social media with speculations on the structural integrity of the Makapiko Bridge. The said post advised the motorists not to take the Balilihan-Hanopol-Batuan Road route, specifically along the said bridge, due to its so-called “unsafe” status and instead to use the Loay Interior Road.   The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has substantially completed another project contract package of Metro Cebu’s comprehensive solution to flooding problems.  In his report to Sec. Roger G. Mercado following an on-site inspection, Undersecretary for Unified Project Management Office (UPMO) Operations Emil K. Sadain said that the UPMO Flood Control Management Cluster (FCMC) has posted a cumulative accomplishment of 95.5% in the implementation of the ₱684-M project contract for the river engineering intervention to protect properties and infrastructure from erosion and flooding in Cebu City and Mandaue City.  The project covers the continuation of revetment and dredging works for Tipolo River, Subangdaku River, Tejero River, Lahug River, Guadalupe River, Kinalumsan River, and Bulacao River.  Complementing the nearly finished works are two other contract packages for the improvement of flood control structures along those seven rivers on different stati...

  A bridge project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) that will serve an important role in the mobility of goods and people and provide greater access to the tourism sites of Bohol Province is targeted to open this first half of 2022. In his project briefing to Sec. Roger G. Mercado, Undersecretary and Build Build Build Chief Implementer Emil K. Sadain reported that construction of new Clarin Bridge along the Bohol Circumferential Road is at 82% to date and is targeted to be completed before the term of Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte ends in June 2022.   CEBU CITY, Cebu, Dec. 28 (PIA) -- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) together with the Visayas Command Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) have conducted full scale road clearing operations in various areas in Central Visayas recently affected by Typhoon "Odette" (International name: Rai) last Dec. 16. The DPWH has deployed heavy equipment for debris clearing while the AFP provided its own personnel and also heavy equipment to assist in the clearing operations in areas heavily damaged by the typhoon. The Armed Forces deployed a backhoe, road grader, pay loader, two dump trucks and around 17 personnel for road clearing at the municipalities of Carcar to Barili, Barili to Ronda, and Balamban to Tuburan in Cebu Province. The team has cleared the 20-kilometer (km) National Highway from Toledo City to Pinamungajan, and 20 km National Highway from Aloguinsan to Mantalongon, Barili.
