DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Sept. 20 (PIA) -- A total of P4.3 million has been distributed to 874 COVID-19 patients as financial assistance at P5,000 each from Dumaguete City.

Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo said the financial aid to the patients who tested positive for COVID-19 is another program of the city to help those in crisis situation amid the pandemic.

This is also in response to the loss of income of patients and their expenditures while in isolation and treatment, Remollo said.

While in isolation, all COVID-19 patients are entitled to food rations delivered by barangay officials and health workers three times a day, along with the close contacts that are placed under quarantine.

The city has set some requirements to claim financial assistance for COVID-19 patients, including copy of the positive RT-PCR swab test result, quarantine completion certificate from the City Health Office, barangay clearance, photocopy of valid ID of claimant, and case study from the City Social Welfare Office.

All these requirements will be submitted to the Office of the Mayor for processing of the voucher.

Meanwhile, about 19 travelers who returned to Dumaguete City were able to get refunds of their expenses in getting the RT-PCR swab tests prior to travel.

The distribution of rice subsidy at 10 kilos per household (fifth round) is also ongoing based on the schedule of the 30 component barangays with estimated 30,000 household beneficiaries. (JCT/PIA7 Negros Oriental)
