Fisherfolks’ group in Cebu lauds gov’t for boosting livelihood opportunity

(Photo from PPMB) CEBU CITY, Cebu (PIA)— A fisherfolks’ group in Cordova town is giving credit to the government on how they were able to boost their post-harvest methods and add value to their products.  Nicasio Baguio, president of Pundok sa Progresibong Mananagat sa Bangbang (PPMB) and  a fisherman for 30 years, is grateful for the trainings they have attended that were facilitated by various government agencies in partnership with the private sector.  “Nagpasalamat sad mi nga naa gyud ming ingo nga nahibaw-an sama atong training sa FISH Visayas katong bahin sa among nahisgutanan na packaging, budgeting sa among mga income. DOST to roll out STARBOOKS program in Siquijor

DOST provides guidebook for aspiring DOST scholars

  DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental (PIA) -- Senior high school students may soon be getting better advice from their schools on which path to take as future researchers, scientists, and engineers.  This after the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) here turned over several copies of “Finding North in STEM: A Career Guidebook for Students,” to seven Department of Education (DepEd) division offices in Negros Oriental. The guidebook for students is a publication of the DOST–Science Education Institute (SEI) that aims to paint a clearer picture of the many opportunities available in the field. DOST honors scholars in NegOr with Latin Honors

  DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Nov. 28 (PIA) -- Some 70 former scholars of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) - Negros Oriental who graduated this year received medals and certificates from the DOST for attaining Latin Honors in their final year in college. Of the total, 10 graduated with Summa Cum Laude, 30 with Magna Cum Laude, and the remaining 30 with Cum Laude.  Fifty of them were graduates of Silliman University while 18 of them came from Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) Main Campus in Dumaguete City, and one each from NORSU Guilhulngan City and Foundation University.  DOST Provincial Director Atty.   TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, October 14 (PIA) – The Department of Science and Technology’s (DOST) Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) conducted a seminar-workshop in Bohol to capacitate disaster communicators in ensuring the accuracy and consistency of the messages being relayed to the public and to promote effective science and risk communication. The workshop was also in time for the 10th year anniversary of the Bohol Earthquake that struck in 2013. Held on October 12, 2023 at the Capitol Ceremonial Hall, the “PHIVOLCS InfoPress: Understanding and Communicating Geologic Hazards in Region 7” was attended by media practitioners and government Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) and information officers.
