Dgte to host bar exams for VisMin examinees

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Sept. 15 (PIA) -- Around 1,020 examinees from various law schools in Visayas and Mindanao are expected to take the bar exam on four Sundays of November in Dumaguete City.

Silliman University College of Law in Dumaguete was selected as one of the 28 local testing centers across the country.

Supreme Court (SC) Associate Justice Mario Victor Leonen, chairperson of the 2020/21 Bar Examinations, said “this is an unprecedented move to meet the sign of the times, the exams will be digitalized, proctored and localized, administered not in one venue, but in several cities and municipalities.”  

A delegation from the SC met with Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, Vice-Mayor Karissa Tolentino-Maxino, and Councilor Lilani Ramon to discuss the assistance that the city government can provide and conduct ocular inspections for the orderly conduct of the 2020/21 Bar Examinations on Nov. 7, 14, 21 and 28. 

Leonen requested Remollo for his support in providing the needed resources, traffic management, police assistance, health protocols, and cooperation of the barangays for the entire duration of the exam.

The SC delegation was led by Atty. Maria Victoria Tiangco and the staff of the Office of the Bar Chairperson and Office of the Bar Confidant also convened the representatives of different agencies and organizations, through Assistant City Administrator Dr. Dinno Depositario.

A coordination meeting was held as part of the preparations to ensure the safety of court personnel, examinees, local government staff, and the general public during the conduct of the bar examinations in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. (JCT/PIA7 Negros Oriental with reports from CPIO)

DSWD implements full online processing of minor travel clearance

  CEBU CITY, Cebu (PIA) – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Central Visayas has announced that applications for minors traveling abroad are now exclusively processed online. Starting February 2025, the Centralized Processing Office – Minors Traveling Abroad (CPO-MTA) will process applications exclusively through its online platform at mta.dswd.gov.ph. Cebu hosts 1st Philippine Tourism Dive Dialogue

  CEBU CITY (PIA) -- The Department of Tourism (DOT) kicked off its first Philippine Tourism Dive Dialogue in Cebu on September 14, 2023, which gathered over 300 dive tourism stakeholders in the country. The two-day dialogue aims to address current issues in diving tourism, promote collaboration among public and private stakeholders, advocate for sustainable practices, discussions on safety, standards, and accreditation of tourism-related establishments (TREs) for scuba diving, and the exploration of promising investment opportunities within the dive industry to foster the growth of dive tourism in the Philippines.
