SSS eyes brgy officials for social security coverage

  TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, January 2 (PIA) – The Social Security System (SSS) is targeting to enroll the newly-elected barangay officials to be the next set of beneficiaries for the government’s social security coverage. This was disclosed by SSS Chief Executive Officer and President Rolando Ledesma-Macasaet during the Stakeholders’ Forum in Bohol recently. Macasaet said SSS has been looking at the possibility of increasing the system’s 42 million members. Barangay officials, even if they are government workers, do not have employer-employee relationship and are not eligible for the government service insurance system. Once they enroll with SSS in their first term of office, a barangay official will only need 12 more months of contribution to have a fully matured policy. SSS: ‘Proposed increase in pension would deplete retirement fund’

  TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol (PIA) -- Unless the Social Security System (SSS) can find more sustainable sources of income, increasing the retirement pension benefits of its members would be a tough decision.  This was the statement issued by SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Rolando Ledesma Macasaet, who met with labor and management representatives and voluntary members during the Stakeholders’ Forum in Panglao, Bohol.  During the forum, Macasaet clarified the agency’s position on the proposed P1,000 to P2,000 increase for retired SSS members.  He said there are roughly 3.5 million pensioners receiving SSS benefits.  For the proposed P1,000 pension increase, the agency would need around P3.5 billion monthly, or P7 billion for the P2,000 proposed increase.  “Multiply that amount to 12 for the 12 months and the SSS retirement fund would bleed P42 billion or P84 billion a month,” Macasaet said.   The 2021 report of revenues and expenditures of S...

SSS issues 15-day ultimatum to 7 erring establishments in Bohol

  CORTES, Bohol, June 3 (PIA) – The Social Security Systems (SSS) has ordered seven establishments in Bohol to settle their delinquencies to avoid facing legal action which could cause the closure of their business along with stiff penalties including jail time. The erring establishments are given 15 days to visit the local SSS office and comply with the said order. SSS to cover social security of former rebels in NegOr

As part of the Task Force Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC), Dr. Lilani Benedian, vice-president for Visayas West, said that the agency would like to be part of government’s efforts by providing them social protection as they rebuild their lives in the community. SSS runs after delinquent employers in NegOr

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, May 19 (PIA) -- The Social Security System (SSS) here has rounded out 10 delinquent employers as part of the implementation of its “Run After Contribution Evaders” (RACE) campaign in Dumaguete City and Sibulan town. The establishments, whose contribution delinquencies totaled of P1.5 million affecting 80 employees of resort, restaurant, salon, gas station, private schools, and corporations. SSS Vice President for Visayas West 1 Division Dr. Lilani Benedian said this year’s second batches of delinquent establishments are issued notices due to the following violations: non-remittance of contributions, under reporting of employees, and employees were deducted of contributions but failed to remit it to SSS. SSS Dgte serves show cause orders to 8 employers

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, April 20 (PIA) -- The Social Security System (SSS) here issued show cause orders to at least eight business establishments in Dumaguete City for violating the social security ruling. As part of its Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) campaign, the SSS conducted inspections on erring establishments and issued written orders for not remitting and registering their employees’ contributions to SSS. Dumaguete City Branch Manager Elisa Llavan said eight establishments found violating the non-remittance of employees’ premiums and under-reporting of employees include three restaurants, farm supply wholesaler, cooperative, bakery, school, and jewelry shop. Llavan said that the said businesses have a total of P3.7 million SSS contribution delinquency, affecting 76 employees. 15 Bohol LGUs now with workers’ social protection under SSS

  TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, April 1 (PIA) -- Fourteen municipal governments and one barangay in Bohol have innovated their local treasuries accommodating for an extra task: collecting and remitting social security contributions from their casual workers and providing coverage for the blood of their operations. The authorities in the municipalities of Ubay, San Miguel, Maribojoc, Calape, Loboc, Danao, Alicia, Mabini, Dimiao, Duero, Catigbian, Baclayon, Lila and Batuan as well as Barangay del Carmen Weste in Balilihan have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Social Security System (SSS), according to SSS Bohol Assistant Head Dioscoro Madanguit.
