PBBM to lead launching of Cebu's first ‘Smart Port’

CEBU CITY, Cebu, May 26 (PIA) – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos, Jr. will lead the grand launching of Pier 88, Cebu’s first “Smart Port” in Brgy. Poblacion, Liloan, Cebu on May 27. The major project, which is funded by a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement, is a joint venture by the local government of Liloan and Topline Group of Companies in partnership with Pier 88 ventures Inc. As a smart port, it will integrate digital technology in its operations by using QR codes and a radio frequency identification-ready (RFID) system to be integrated in a mobile application, providing passengers convenience while traveling. Port facilities and services of Pier88 will also include the following: Ramps for berthing, Mooring Dolphins, Pedestrian Bollards, Pier Bridge and Deck, Truck Weighing Scale, Storage, Cargo Handling, Trucking, Arrastre, Porterate, Stevedoring, Leisure and Island Hopping terminal, Shuttle, and Banking Services. Bohol sets aside P2.5M funds for El Niño cloud seeding operations

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, May 12, (PIA) -- The provincial government has already allocated some P2.5M for possible cloud seeding operations to mitigate the effects of the extreme drought on Bohol farms. Provincial Administrator Asteria Caberte announced this while reading the governor’s message at the opening of the urgent meeting of the Task Force El Niño at the Capitol Ceremonial Hall. The meeting had the local Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) sharing its forecast of an increased likelihood of a transition to El Niño by July and could persist until the first quarter of 2024. El Niño increases the probability of below normal rainfall conditions, which could have negative effects like dry spells and droughts in some areas in the country. SSS runs after delinquent employers in NegOr

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, May 19 (PIA) -- The Social Security System (SSS) here has rounded out 10 delinquent employers as part of the implementation of its “Run After Contribution Evaders” (RACE) campaign in Dumaguete City and Sibulan town. The establishments, whose contribution delinquencies totaled of P1.5 million affecting 80 employees of resort, restaurant, salon, gas station, private schools, and corporations. SSS Vice President for Visayas West 1 Division Dr. Lilani Benedian said this year’s second batches of delinquent establishments are issued notices due to the following violations: non-remittance of contributions, under reporting of employees, and employees were deducted of contributions but failed to remit it to SSS.
