  CEBU CITY, Cebu, January 16, 2024 (PIA) -- The Subnational Blood Center for Visayas (SNBCV) of the Department of Health (DOH) announced the temporary relocation and set up of a satellite blood assistance unit in Sambag II, Cebu City from January 20 to 21, 2024.  This is in anticipation of road closures and rerouting schemes to facilitate the 2024 Sinulog Festival,  According to an advisory posted on the official Facebook page of DOH7, the temporary suspension of its operations at the South Road Properties (SRP) is due to the foreseen heavy traffic and influx of devotees and tourists by January 21, 2024. During this period, SNBCV will temporarily operate a satellite Blood Service Unit at the Clinical Laboratory at DOH Compound, Osmeña Boulevard, Sambag II, Cebu City.   TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol (PIA) – The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) recently turned over two fiberglass boats to Bohol in a bid to bring down prices of fish in the province.  According to Salvio Madanguit, coordinator of the Fish Buy-Back Program, the fiberglass boats are a big boost to the provincial government’s measures to stabilize the prices of fish here.  The Bohol Baratong Isda Task Force earlier reported that there is a shortfall in the fish supply in the province after Typhoon Odette destroyed fishing boats, fish cages, ponds, and other fishery facilities across the province when it hit the country in 2013.  Fishermen were also forced to sell their fish catch to businessmen at a much lower price as they don’t have a cold storage facility.   TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol (PIA) -- To help Boholano farmers increase their income, the Department of Agriculture in Central Visayas (DA 7) recently conducted two cassava techno demonstration field days in two municipalities in Bohol. The demonstration was done in the towns of Sierra Bullones and Dagohoy with an area of two hectares each to showcase the performance of the new and matured cassava production technologies. The ten-month field demonstration was participated in by 17 farmers in Sierra Bullones and 35 farmers in Dagohoy.  The lakan and golden yellow varieties of cassava were introduced due to its high yield.   CEBU CITY, Cebu, Jan. 15 (PIA) -- The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) is supporting the Sinulog Festival this year by deploying their resources and personnel throughout the month-long celebration.  PRC has deployed two rescue boats, four ambulance units, first-aid stations with welfare desks, a food truck, and an Emergency Medical Unit/Tent (EMU) in strategic areas throughout the festival venues. A total of 200 PRC personnel from PRC Cebu Chapter and PRC Lapu-Lapu/Cordova Chapter have been deployed to offer emergency medical services and manage the first aid stations.  PRC also mobilized its volunteers, Emergency Medical Services foot patrollers, water search and rescue teams, medical corps, in-house doctors, and welfare teams.  Richard “Dick” J.   SIQUIJOR (PIA) --The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has registered a total of 90,568 Siquijodnons aged five years and above as of December 21, 2023.  The count is part of the over 50 million PhilIDs or ePhilID that have been successfully printed and dispatched for Filipinos nationwide who have registered with the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys), said PSA Siquijor Information Officer Rizalyn Teodora Gaviola.  Gaviola said the registered Siquijodnons have completed Step 2 Registration or capturing of biometric information such as iris scan, fingerprints, and front-facing photograph.   Benefits of National ID  The PhilID or national ID serves as a valid proof of identity that would help ease transactions with both government and private sectors through easier validation and authentication of identity.  Loregie A.
