SSS Dgte serves show cause orders to 8 employers

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, April 20 (PIA) -- The Social Security System (SSS) here issued show cause orders to at least eight business establishments in Dumaguete City for violating the social security ruling.

As part of its Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) campaign, the SSS conducted inspections on erring establishments and issued written orders for not remitting and registering their employees’ contributions to SSS.

Dumaguete City Branch Manager Elisa Llavan said eight establishments found violating the non-remittance of employees’ premiums and under-reporting of employees include three restaurants, farm supply wholesaler, cooperative, bakery, school, and jewelry shop.

Llavan said that the said businesses have a total of P3.7 million SSS contribution delinquency, affecting 76 employees.

The employers who received show cause orders were given 15 days to coordinate with SSS Dumaguete Branch for appropriate and immediate compliance.

The SSS official reminded all employers in the province on the importance of employers’ compliance in fulfilling their legal obligations under Republic Act No. 11199 of the Social Security Act of 2018.

Llavan called on businesses to report their employees, and deduct and remit their contributions to SSS to ensure their employees' eligibility to SSS benefits in times of contingencies like sickness, maternity, disability, unemployment, retirement, funeral, and death.

“By faithfully complying to these legal obligations, employers can avoid the fine of P5,000 to P20,000 and an imprisonment ranging six years and one day to 12 years,” said Llavan.

Meanwhile, SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Rolando Ledesma Macasaet is encouraging affected employers to settle their delinquencies and consider the flexible payment options available to avoid facing criminal charges and maintain their good standing with the SSS.
