DOST honors scholars in NegOr with Latin Honors

  DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Nov. 28 (PIA) -- Some 70 former scholars of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) - Negros Oriental who graduated this year received medals and certificates from the DOST for attaining Latin Honors in their final year in college. Of the total, 10 graduated with Summa Cum Laude, 30 with Magna Cum Laude, and the remaining 30 with Cum Laude.  Fifty of them were graduates of Silliman University while 18 of them came from Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) Main Campus in Dumaguete City, and one each from NORSU Guilhulngan City and Foundation University.  DOST Provincial Director Atty. OP, DSWD hold National Gift-Giving Day in Cebu

  CEBU CITY, Cebu, Nov. 28 (PIA) -- The Office of the President, in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and other private groups, held a gift-giving event on Nov. 26, 2023 at the Cebu Technological University (CTU) Main Campus Gym in Cebu City. This is part of the Nationwide Gift-Giving Day program dubbed as "Balik Sigla, Bigay Saya" initiated by the OP through DSWD. The event was held simultaneously in over 250 locations in Manila, Cebu, and Davao with the aim of providing Christmas gifts to around 17,000 children from selected shelters and orphan care centers in the country. More than 400 children from different DSWD-accredited care centers and facilities in Cebu received gift bags during the event. Each gift bag contains a blanket, pillow, and towel, which are useful for the children living in the respective centers. Dumaguete crime rate drops

  DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Nov. 10 (PIA) -- The Dumaguete City Police Station has reported that between October 1 to Nov. 7, only 70 crime incidents were recorded, a decrease by 21% compared to 91 incidents in the same period of last year. In a City Peace and Order Council meeting, Lt. Col. Ronoel Fungo disclosed that no homicide, murder, robbery, carnapping, rape and rape with homicide cases were reported in the same period.  The City Health Office also reported that of the total 905 surrenderees or people who use drugs (PWUDs) in 2017, around 334 or 37% have completed their assessment as of Nov. 7, 2023. DepEd Negros Oriental supports STEM promotion among senior HS studes

  DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Nov. 29 (PIA) -- The division offices of the Department of Education (DepEd) in Negros Oriental are supporting the promotion of academic and career opportunities under the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) track among senior high students (SHS) in public schools here.  This after the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) distributed copies of STEM Guide Books to representatives of DepEd Division Offices of Negros Oriental, Bais City, Bayawan City, Canlaon City, Dumaguete City, Guihulngan City, and Tanjay City on Nov. 17.
