PSA seeks public cooperation to agri, fisheries survey

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Aug. 15 (PIA) -- Enumerators from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) will be visiting 163,922 households in the province for the conduct of the 2022 Census on Agriculture and Fisheries (CAF) on Sept 4. to Oct. 25, 2023.

The enumerators will be visiting the households in 185 identified sample barangays.

With this, the PSA, together with the Negros Oriental Provincial Census Coordinating Board (PCCB), appealed to the public to support and cooperate with the enumerators for the CAF survey.

The enumerators will gather the data through house-to-house visits and interviews among target respondents.

The PSA is asking households with dogs to secure or leash their pets so they will not pose a risk to the interviewers.

It has been noted that the risk of dog attacks is one of the challenges faced by enumerators in carrying out the survey.

PSA is asking the public to be considerate and cooperate with the enumerators.

The nationwide census coincides with the observance of the National Agriculture and Fisheries Census Month this September.

The CAF is geared towards the collection and compilation of basic information on the agricultural and fishery sectors in the country.

The census also aims to provide basic data on agriculture, aquaculture, and fishing characteristics for use in the government's national and local development planning.

The data collected from the census will be the basis for policymakers and planners to formulate their plans and programs for the province’s socioeconomic development. (JCT/PIA7 Negros Oriental)
