DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, April 17 (PIA) -- Department of Education (DepEd) Region 7 Director Salustiano Jimenez led the installation of Dr. Caisana Caberte as the new schools division superintendent of Dumaguete City.
Caberte, who was previously assigned at the Bohol Division, will replace Dr. Gregorio Cyrus Elejorde who is now promoted as Assistant Regional Director of Region 9 based in Pagadian City.
Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo welcomed and congratulated Caberte during her official inauguration in a simple rite in the city.
Caberte was a curriculum specialist and a textbook evaluator at the Bohol Division and has been a recipient of government scholarships.
In his four-year stint as DepEd Dumaguete Superintendent, Elejorde had developed innovations in the automation of operations such as Chada Online Enrolment, Chada Personnel Management Information System, among others.
Remollo reiterated his support to all the programs, projects, and activities of Deped Dumaguete under the new leadership of Caberte to further improve the access and quality of education available to all the students enrolled in the public schools.
Among the projects being implemented by the mayor include the allocation of P80 million for the construction of school buildings for the public schools identified by the Local School Board.
The city government also hired teacher-tutors for the barangays and assignment of LGU-paid workers to Deped schools to help improve the quality of instruction and graduates.
Some of the support from the city include allocation of budget for the various sports tournaments; implementation of setbacks in public schools to serve as additional parking space and ensure the safety of the students and faculty and cash incentives for teaching personnel.
Other school facilities now being jointly implemented include the completion of the Technical Vocational School Building and the 2-storey Sub-Regional Office VII building with a roof deck. (JCT/PIA7 Negros Oriental with reports from CPIO)
