DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Jan. 30 (PIA) -- The Dumaguete City Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) has confirmed that no COVID-related deaths have been recorded in the city for almost three months now.
The task force also reported that for almost two weeks straight, all 30 component barangays have recorded no active COVID-19 cases as of Jan. 27.
Of the 6,386 total number of COVID-19 cases reported since Dumaguete City was affected by the pandemic from Jan. 30, 2020 to Jan. 27, 2023, around 6,213 have recovered while 173 fatalities were recorded.
Meanwhile, the Department of Health Region7 has assigned five nurses to augment the Dumaguete City Health Office.
DOH Negros Oriental Development Management Officer V Jennifer Remollo conferred with Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo to assure the support for the enhancement and sustainability on the delivery of health services in the barangays.
The five nurses assigned in the city under the National Health Workforce Support System include Phoebe Ann Parrocho, Maureen Vincoy, Gretchen Inquig, Allysa Angela Gaipang, and Cherwin Katherine Ontal who have been serving the communities of Dumaguete City for a number of years already and were instrumental in the efforts to control COVID-19 and other diseases.
