DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Jan. 27 (PIA) -- The Dumaguete Cathedral Credit Multipurpose Cooperative (DCCCO) is set to establish another housing site in a 2.4-hectare lot in Brgy. Bajumpandan, this city.
This was announced by DCCCO officials on Jan. 25 after they signed the memorandum of agreement with their partner firm, Catarata Surveying Services, which signaled the start of the horizontal development of the said property.
The project, which will be called DCCCO Village 2 Subdivision, will offer 141 lots to its members for them to build their future homes.
DCCCO Village Committee Chief William Ablong said this undertaking is part of the cooperative’s response to people’s need for homes to live a life with dignity and security.
“We aim to eliminate the housing backlog in Dumaguete City. We try to help out our government in trying to address housing crises in Dumaguete. For most people, home ownership remains most important and valuable. Affordable housing is critical in breaking the cycle of poverty,” Ablong said.
Although housing projects are sprouting in the city, Ablong noted that there is still a growing shortage of houses caused by the rising prices and population increase.
DCCCO Chairperson of Board of Directors Edilberito Euraoba II added that this project is one of the ways the cooperative is looking after its members’ welfare.
“This is done to serve the people, to serve our members so that people will know na naay kooperatiba na naglantaw alang sa ilang kaayuhan (so that people will know that their cooperative is looking after their welfare),” Euraoba said.
Ablong said they will also open business sub-lots fronting the subdivision area, and put up a tree park, playground, and a chapel in the open area of the subdivision.
The DCCCO Village 2 subdivision will be compliant to all environmental laws and local ordinances in implemented city.
The village will have lots dedicated for socialized housings and another area for home lots which could cover 100-120 square meters of land area.
The project is seen to take 24 months to complete as the DCCCO Village committee is still finalizing the details for the costing, pricing, equity, and other details in the application for the housing unit.
DCCCCO Chief Executive Officer Midredo Umbac told cooperative members to stay tuned for more updates in the coming days and months.
“Puhon magsugod na ta og panganhi sa opisina para magpa-reserve sa atong slots (Members can come here to reserve their slots soon). Maybe we can accept pre-selling by the third or fourth quarter of this year,” Umbac said. (RAL/PIA7 Negros Oriental)
