GSIS grants emergency loan in Cebu for storm-hit members

  CEBU CITY, Cebu, Jan. 30 (PIA) --  The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) is now granting emergency loan to its members and pensioners in Central Visayas who were affected by Typhoon Odette..  GSIS Cebu Manager Atty. Mercedes Victoria Enriquez announced in a Zoom meeting that the loan is available  until Feb. 6 only. “Alam kong kailangan ng aming mga miyembro at pensiyonado ang tulong-pinansyal, kaya naman binuksan agad namin ang emergency loan upang makatulong sa kanila,” Enriquez said. President Rodrigo Duterte has earlier declared six areas, including Central Visayas, under a state of calamity on Dec. 21, 2021. Active members residing or working, as well as old-age and disability pensioners, in Region 7 may apply for the loan. The qualified loan borrowers with existing emergency loan may borrow up to P40,000 to pay off their previous emergency loan balance and still receive a maximum net amount of P20,000. Tagbilaran City leads active COVID-19 cases in Bohol

  CORTES, Bohol, Jan. 29 (PIA) -- Tagbilaran City logged the highest number of active COVID-19 cases in the province with 325 active cases, as Bohol sees 1,132 confirmed cases of the virus on Jan. 29 at 9:00 p.m.  Next in the highest number of active cases is Dauis with 61 and Baclayon with 45.  On the other hand, Panglao recorded 31 active COVID-19 cases, Loon with 23, Cortes with 22, and Maribojoc, Alburquerque and Antequera with 20 active cases each.  Except for Corella, towns near Tagbilaran City have elevated number of cases, most of them seeing a rising trend after the holidays. Across the island, Ubay in Bohol’s northeastern part records 45 active COVID cases, with Talibon coming in close with 43 cases, Trinidad with 15, and Alicia with 12.   CORTES, Bohol, Jan. 29 (PIA) -- Some 47,762 Boholanos have been added to the vaccine eligible masterlist, the updated data from the Bohol Inter Agency Task Force (BIATF) on the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease showed. In its Jan. 26 COVID-19 Vaccination Report, the BIATF updated its total number of Boholanos who are eligible for the vaccines at 1,009,634. The new figure is 47,762 more than the initial number in the eligible list for anti-COVID-10 vaccination which was initially pegged at 961,762. The updated list will consequently increase the number of vaccines that Bohol would need to attain herd immunity. With 1,009,634 in the list, Bohol would at least need 2,019,267 doses of the vaccines to fully protect those in the masterlist. According to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in its official census of 2020, Bohol has a population of 1,394,329. For a minimum of 70% pegged to attain the lowest level of herd immunity, Bohol must vaccinate 976,031, which is 70% of th

LTO-7 seeks public understanding amid work disruptions

  CEBU CITY, Cebu, Jan. 29 (PIA) -- The Land Transportation Office Region 7 (LTO-7) is requesting the transacting public to extend their patience in their transactions with their agency. With the series of unfortunate events that happened in Cebu and Central Visayas brought by the recent Typhoon Odette following its continuing restoration and surge of the new Covid variant with Alert Level 3 restrictions, LTO-7 Regional Director Victor Emmanuel Caindec said that aside from the current level status imposed on the island of Cebu, a lot of their employees tested positive for COVID-19. PCA helps coco farmers in CV affected by TY Odette

CEBU CITY, Cebu, Jan. 27 (PIA) -- The Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) in Central Visayas has mobilized its personnel and resources to assist in the clearing and rehabilitation of areas and uplift the conditions of coconut farmers greatly affected by Typhoon "Odette"(International name: Rai). According to its initial status report given during the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC-7) meeting on Jan. 26, the PCA was able to release a total of P3,225,880 worth of indemnification to 745 affected coconut farmers in the region under the Accelerated Coconut Planting and Replanting Project (ACPRP) & Coconut Intercropping and Livestock Raising Project (CIP) – Participatory Coconut Planting Project (PCPP) approach. The agency has released P725,555 to 145 coconut farmers in Bohol, P920,720 to 213 coconut farmers in Cebu, P1,561,395 to 369 coconut farmers in Negros Oriental, and P18,000 to 18 coconut farmers in Siquijor.
