NCCA launches 31st National Arts Month

CEBU CITY, Cebu, Jan. 27 (PIA) -- The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) during its virtual press conference held Jan. 26 presented a preview for the upcoming celebration of the National Arts Month 2022 this February.

This year’s event marks the 31st National Arts Month with the theme “Sining ng Pag-Asa” in recognition of the arts as a source and expression of hope as shown in the creative ways on how the Filipinos respond to the effects of the pandemic, natural calamities, and other social realities, as well as the arts role in improving the Filipino community life.

NCCA Chairman Arsenio Lizaso, in his message, recognized arts as a sign of hope to every Filipino especially during these difficult times.

“I always believe in the healing power of arts and the 2022 National Arts Month stands upon Sining ng Pag-Asa as we recognize arts being the source and expression of hope as well as the continuous formulation on the creative means to stand from the effects of pandemic and natural calamities,” said Lizaso.

“Dahil ang sining ay nagmumula sa mga tao, sa mga komunidad,  mga bayan, at  mga relihiyon ng ating bansa and the National Arts Month being the NCCA’s biggest flagship program is an essential platform to cultivate appreciation for the arts and bring a deep sense of respect for our culture and tradition” the NCCA chairman added.

The NCCA also unveiled the programs and activities to expect for the entire month of February as part of the celebration of the National Arts Month.

The seven-member committees of the NCCA each presented their primary program and activity to be conducted for the 2022 National Arts Month. 

The National Committee on Cinema will feature “Cinema Rehiyon”, the National Committee on Architecture will have “Saan Ka Lulugar 2022, Creative as a Catalyst for Recovery”, the National Committee on Dance with “Sayaw Pinoy”, the National Committee on Dramatic Arts will have “Tangghal, a National Community and Theather Based Festival”, the National Committee on Literary Arts will feature “Himaya, Panitikan ng Pagbabanyuhay”, the National Committee on Music will have “Musikapuluan”, while the National Committee on Visual Arts will showcase “Bagong Biswal”.

More details on the said events will be shared during the official opening program activities on Feb. 4 at 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. (RGC/PIA7)

PVAO to partner with hospitals for improved medical care access of veterans
