COVID-19 deaths in Bohol down by 51% in October

Health and local government authorities continue their call for vaccination among adults, especially those living with persons with comorbidities and children who could not yet be vaccinated, to sustain the encouraging results in Bohol’s fight against the virus. (PIA Bohol)


CORTES, Bohol, Oct. 30 (PIA) -- In the last two months, COVID-19 related deaths in Bohol decreased by 51% as Bohol continues to seek out vaccine sources to inoculate its unvaccinated population to establish herd immunity as soon as possible.

From an all-time high of 177 deaths in in September, the number of deaths dropped to 91 in October.

With 177 deaths in September, Bohol had a daily average of almost six persons who die of COVID-19. 

Vaccination accomplishment was at 13.06% by Sept. 25, according to data provided by the Emergency Operations Center of the Bohol Inter Agency Task Force (BIATF) on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.     

By October, with vaccination increasing to 17.24% and another 17% given the initial dose, the figures have started to drop.

Deaths related to COVID-19 and its complications in October still reached 91 but is already 51% lower than the previous month, according to the daily COVID-19 updates provided by the BIATF.

Aside from the decreasing number of deaths, active cases are also decreasing.

From three-digit figures in new cases per day, the number has gone double digits since Oct. 3 and has since stayed below the 100 new cases daily radar.

For the last 26 days, new cases have averaged 39 daily; the highest number was recorded on Oct. 3 at 99 and the lowest was  recorded on Oct. 25 with three cases.

As to the active cases, from Oct. 11, the number of active cases has gone down below the 1,000 mark.

From 84% recovery rate on Sept. 1, the figure has been raised to 95% for every 100 COVID-19 active cases in October. (RAHC/PIA7 Bohol)
