Bohol pushes for 25K vax shots per day

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, Oct. 21 (PIA) -- With the vaccine supply backlog and the recent arrival of the 200,000 doses of Pfizer vaccines on Oct. 16, Bohol is pushing for 25,000 a day vaccine accomplishment, according to the spokesperson of the Bohol Inter Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (BIATF-EID).

Speaking during the recent meeting of the BIATF Strategic Communications Cluster, BIATF Spokesperson Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez said with the arrival of the 35,490 vials which is equivalent to 212,940 vaccine doses, Bohol can already accelerate its vaccination rollout.

In his previous statements, Lopez said Bohol has over 50 vaccination sites, even before the mobile vaccine teams were organized to bring the inoculations to the far-flung areas.

During the start of the vaccine rollout, an average of 150 individuals are given the jabs a day by the vaccine teams, or a minimum of 7500 vaccines delivered in a day.

"We need to vaccinate fast and reach to as many as we can," said Gov. Arthur Yap during the meeting attended by local chief executives and heads of government agencies.

As of Oct. 18, citing a report from the Emergency Operations Center which is the base of the Provincial Vaccination Operations Center, BIATF disclosed that since March 6, Bohol has given two doses for complete COVID-19 protection to 220,627 individuals. 

Another 201,622 Boholanos have been given the first dose and in less than a month, would be given the second dose. 

As to the health workers who are prioritized in the vaccination, of the 42,652 in the masterlist, Bohol has accomplished 109% with 46,531 given two doses and another 33,778 awaiting their full vaccination anytime soon.

For Bohol’s senior citizens, of the 110,592 individuals in the masterlist, 46,696 have been given the full protection.

This is already 42.22%, excluding the 38,185 who have been initially inoculated.

For the 85,784 persons with comorbidities in the masterlist, Bohol has reached out to 50,507 who have been given two doses and another 29,288 with initial jabs, for a 58.87% accomplishment rate. 

For the essential workers, 70,393 of the 145,795 in the masterlist have been fully vaccinated, while another 78,985 received their first doses.

In the indigent population, Bohol has pegged 577,048 in the masterlist and has accomplished 6,196 individuals who have been fully vaccinated, with 14,318 in their initial doses.

Overall, Bohol has expended 422,249 vaccine doses: 220,627 given the two-vaccine doses and another 201,622 on their first doses.

With the arrival of the 35,490 vials, with six doses of Pfizer vaccines in each vial, Bohol now has 740,932 total vaccines in stock. (RAHC/PIA7 Bohol)
