Private sector urged to join DOLE's student employment program

  CEBU CITY, Cebu, Dec.1 (PIA) -– The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 7 urged the private sector to help in the government’s job immersion program for students. During DOLE7’s recent Stakeholder’s Dialogue and Engagement, the department invited partner government agencies and private establishments to engage with them to improve and enhance DOLE’s services. DOLE-7 Regional Director Lilia Estillore said that the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) pledgers are commonly the local government units, national government agencies, and private establishments. “We would want to expand it to the private sector. We only have a few acceptors in the private sector,” Estillore said. 80 Negros Oriental brgys now insurgency-free

  DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental (PIA) -- After struggling with a lack of access to safe drinking water for several years, potable water is now a part of life for the residents of Brgy. Lumapao in the mountain city of Canlaon.  Brgy. Lumapao earlier received a water system project and water reservoir under the Barangay Development Program (BDP) after it was declared to be insurgency-free by the Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF- ELCAC).  It is one of two barangays in Canlaon City previously tagged as conflict areas by the PTF-ELCAC  due to the presence of communist insurgents.  “The lack of potable water was one of the prevailing issues identified by the community support program team in the area,” said Engr. Negros Oriental fast tracks completion of Women’s Crisis Center

  DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental (PIA) -- The provincial government here is fast tracking the completion of the Women’s Crisis Center at the Capitol Area, Dumaguete City amid the call for more shelters for abused women in the province.  Provincial Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Person Josefina Columna said the crisis center, which is compliant in the A1 standard set by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), is expected to be operational by the second half of 2024. Bohol LGUs sign inter-LGU cooperation on health care

  TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol (PIA) -- Bohol Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado has signed an Inter-Local Government Unit Cooperation in line with the implementation of the national government’s Universal Health Care.  The memorandum of agreement (MOA) was signed by Aumentado and all Bohol mayors.  Under the MOA, the provincial government and the LGUs will contribute funds, resources, and property to integrate health systems with the Department of Health (DOH), Department of Interior and Local Government, and Philippine Health Corporation (Philhealth) for the implementation of the Universal Health Care Act.  The agreement includes the setting up of a Special Health Fund (SHF) to be managed by the Provincial Health Board.  Integrating the healthcare system with the provincewide health system allows a pooled health system through the SHF, with each local health unit creating a sub-ledger in their trust funds account for the augmentation of the health expenditures.  Th...

Bohol eyes sundown clinics to arrest spike in HIV cases

  TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol (PIA) -- The Bohol Provincial Health Office has raised the need to establish  sundown clinics in the province to arrest the increase in Human-Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) cases. Assistant Provincial Health Officer Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez disclosed that there was an alarming spike of 193 HIV cases in the province in November 2023.
