Tree growing, coastal clean-up sa Siquijor 'World Wetland Day'

SIQUIJOR, Siquijor, Feb. 4 (PIA) -- Pagpadaghan sa tubig ug kakahuyan ang pinakatumong ug tuyo sa gipahigayong Tree Growing Activity kaniadtong Pebrero 1, didto sa Brgy. Balolang, Larena, Siquijor.

Nisugat sa mga partisipante ang maanindot nga talan-awon sa bukid uban sa kabugnaw sa yamog sayo sa kabuntagon nga nagdugang sa kaanyag sa lugar.

Kini diha nga nagpasiugda ang Department of Environment and Natural Resources sa maong kalihukan isip pag-saulog sa World Wetland Day nga adunay temang "Wetlands Actions for People and Nature."

Sa pagpangulo ni PENRO Siquijor Laurentino Bautista uban ni DENR7 Regional Executive Director Engr. Paquito D. Melicor Jr., ug  Coastal Conservation and Education Foundation (CCEF) Executive Director Auburn Patrick Samson, nagmalampuson ang maong pagpananom diin 50 ka mga tugas seedlings ang gitanom ug gi ugmad aron patuboon ug padaghnon ngadto sa 76 ka ektaryang luna sa Balolang, Larena.

Nitambong usab sa maong kalihukan ang mga opisyales gikan sa Provincial Government of Siquijor, Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Philippine Information Agency (PIA), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Local Government Unit (LGU) sa Larena nga gipangulohan mismo ni Mayor Cyrus Vincent Calibo, Balolang baranggay officials ug mga non-government organizations.

Si Provincial Environment and Tourism Officer Engr. Cle Bern Paglinawan kinsa maoy nirepresentar sa provincial government nihatag bili sa pagpatubo ug kahoy nga posibleng mahimong source of water.

Giawhag usab ni Paglinawan ang mga Siquijodnon sa pagsuporta sa mga programa sa DENR sama sa pagpatubo ug mga kahoy sa Brgy. Balolang nga matod pa niya maoy solusyon sa kawad-on sa tubig sa kasikbit niini nga mga dapit.

Samtang niadtong Pebrero 2, sa mao gihapong selebrasyon, ang mga sakop sa  Provincial Environment and Natrual Resources Office (PENRO), ubos sa Conservation and Development Section mihimo og  "coastal clean-up and tidal debris removal" kon pagpanglimpyo sa kabaybayonan ug pagpanghakot sa mga anod nga kahoy ug sagbot didto sa Tulapos, Enrique, Villanueva, Siquijor.

Ang maong  clean-up drive nakakuha ug suporta gikan sa LGU Tulapos, PNP Tourist Police, ug Tulapos Marine Sanctuary Tour Guides diin gibanabana nga 105 kilos ka mga anod ug mga sagbot ang nakolekta sa maong baybayon.

'Barangayanihan' caravan bares accomplishments under PRRD

EMB 7 creates composite team for water sampling

The Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) 7 of the Department of Environment Natural Resources Central Visayas on Tuesday, Dec. 28, has created a composite team for water sampling in the different parts of the region affected by Typhoon "Odette" (International name: Rai). The EMB 7 deployed two teams conducting ambient water sampling in the Northern Cebu (Liloan area, Consolacion, Mandaue and Mactan Coastal Area) and Southern Cebu (Cebu Port Area, Talisay, Naga and San Fernando). The bureau said the first two samples from Punta Engaño near Movenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu and Umapad, Mandaue City near the bridge and Petron) taken last Dec. 23 and 24 were brought to Ostrea Laboratory since the EMB laboratory cannot analyze due to no electricity.
