DepEd, PNP: Reg’l schools presscon in Siquijor a success

LARENA, Siquijor (PIA) — The Siquijor Province’s first hosting of the Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) 2025 was a huge success, according to the Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Siquijor and the Siquijor Police Provincial Office (SPPO).

DepEd Siquijor schools sivision superintendent Rosalie Pasaol thanked the local government units, government agencies, and delegates who participated in the event.

“I am proud to say and I am very grateful that it was a huge success. If we can see from the different delegates from the 20 divisions in the whole Region 7, they gave us the feedback, and as they say, the best hosting goes to the province of Siquijor,” said Pasaol.

On the other hand, Siquijor Provincial Police Office (SPPO) provincial director Police Col. Emelie Santos disclosed that there were zero crime incidents in the province during the activity.

Santos thanked the “force multipliers” and the advocacy support groups for their support that led to the peaceful conduct of the RSPC.

With almost 6,000 participants during the event, she emphasized the key role played by the “force multipliers” in maintaining peace and order.

“I’m proud to say that the RSCPC was very successful with zero incident on the part of the PNP, DepEd, and the participants. Nagpasalamat pud ko sa mga force multipliers and the advocacy support groups nga ilahang girender nga support sa amoa. In fact, 24/7 among deployment, in the streets, in the schools ug sa tanan. Hapsay ang Regional Schools Press Conference dinhi sa Siquijor,” also said Santos.

DepEd-7 chief education supervisor of the Curriculum and Learning Management Division (CLMD) Emiliano Elnar Jr. explained that Campus Journalism provides a great opportunity for campus journalists and students to develop media literacy, ethical reporting, and responsible journalism.

He emphasized the power and responsibility of the media in informing, inspiring, and influencing society.

“Let us reflect on the significance of media in shaping our world view, promoting societal change and advocating for justice and equality,” Elnar said. (RAC/PIA7-Siquijor)

DSWD implements full online processing of minor travel clearance

  CEBU CITY, Cebu (PIA) – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Central Visayas has announced that applications for minors traveling abroad are now exclusively processed online. Starting February 2025, the Centralized Processing Office – Minors Traveling Abroad (CPO-MTA) will process applications exclusively through its online platform at mta.dswd.gov.ph. DSWD7 Children Sector focal person Ligaya Dael said the shift to online processing aims to streamline the issuance of travel clearances for minors. “We can provide assistance on the online application process if they go to our office since it is still in a transition period but it is still online,” Dael said during the recent Kapihan sa PIA forum.
