Metro-Cebu Public Savings Bank depositors urged to file insurance claims until April 1

 


CEBU CITY, Cebu (PIA) -- The Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC) urged the remaining depositors of the closed Metro-Cebu Public Savings Bank to file their deposit insurance claims until April 1, 2024. 

The Monetary Board of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) issued Resolution No. 434.E on March 31, 2022 ordering the closure of the Metro-Cebu Public Savings Bank.

PDIC then took over to conduct liquidation of the bank on April 1, 2022 in accordance to the amended Section 12 of RA No. 3591. 
Depositors are given two years since the takeover to file deposit insurance claims with the PDIC. 

The agency disclosed there are still 254 deposit accounts with total insured deposits amounting to P2.5 million that have yet to file for deposit insurance claims. 

As of January 31, 2024, PDIC already paid 98 percent of the bank’s total insured deposits, which is P177.9 million.

To process the claim, depositors should download and accomplish the Claim Form from the PDIC through the link: http://www.pdic.gov.ph/files/New_PDIC_Claim_Form.pdf. 

PDIC reminded depositors that there is no fee for the form and the filing of the deposit insurance claims. 

Depositors are advised to course the filing online via email address at pad@pdic.gov.ph or through postal mail or courier addressed to the PDIC Public Assistance Department, Ground Floor, PDIC Chino Bldg., 2228 Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City 1231.

Personal filing to PDIC can be done by requesting an appointment through the Public Assistance Hotline from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at (02) 8842-4141 for clients within Metro Manila, or the toll-free number 1-800-1-888-7342 or 1-800-1-888-PDIC during office hours for clients outside Metro Manila.

Depositors may also secure an appointment through the same email address for filing or through PDIC Official Facebook page www.facebook.com/OfficialPDIC. 

Filing claims through email should have the following documents attached: scanned copies or photo images of the signed and accomplished Claim Form, evidence of deposit  (i.e., first page of the savings passbook with account name/number and last page with account balance, or the front and back portion of the certificate of time deposit, etc.), and one valid photo-bearing ID with the depositor’s signature.

On the other hand, depositors who opt to file claims in person or through postal mail or courier services should submit the following: the accomplished, signed, and notarized Claim Form; original savings passbook and/or Certificate of Time Deposit; and one valid photo-bearing ID with depositor’s signature.

For depositors under 18 years old, the representatives of the claimants are advised to include in the submission a photocopy of the birth certificate issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority, or a duly certified copy issued by the Local Civil Registrar along with the original copy of a notarized Special Power of Attorney of the depositor or parent of a minor depositor.

Bohol eyes sundown clinics to arrest spike in HIV cases

  TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol (PIA) -- The Bohol Provincial Health Office has raised the need to establish  sundown clinics in the province to arrest the increase in Human-Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) cases. Assistant Provincial Health Officer Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez disclosed that there was an alarming spike of 193 HIV cases in the province in November 2023.
