TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, June 5 (PIA) -- Health experts at the national level suggest capacitating local hospitals to be efficient enough to treat patients. This as Bohol nears its target of reaching herd immunity against COVID-19 that has since killed 682 Boholanos. The Department of Health (DOH) has emphasized the need to capacitate local health providers in primary health care facilities and infirmaries to depopulate tertiary and secondary hospital beds for other critical cases.  Vaccinating 71.57% of its target 80% of eligible population of 1,106,084, Bohol still needs to vaccinate 103,267 individuals to achieve the herd immunity threshold. An 80% vaccination coverage of its eligible population allows the national task force to downgrade Bohol’s COVID alert status to Alert Level 1. CEBU CITY, Cebu, June 4 (PIA) -- The Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa (BP2) Program has helped hundreds of families in Central Visayas since the government started implementing the program in the region in 2021. The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), one of the lead agencies in charge of facilitating the BP2 program, said the program was able to assist 343 families in Region 7 in 2021. DSWD, along with other implementing agencies, launched BP2P at a time when COVID-19 cases are reportedly high and the program became a great help for the families as they counter the effects of the pandemic, especially the impact on their employment and livelihood situation. DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, June 3 (PIA) -- Dumaguete City government and Metro Dumaguete Water (MDW) has announced the opening of an outlet for the collection of environmental septage fees inside the latter’s main office in Brgy. Daro. The outlet aims to improve collection efficiency while making it more convenient for consumers to pay the said fee.  City Economic Enterprise Officer Engr. Jose Ronnie Fortin said this newly-opened collection outlet is in addition to the existing outlets at the Passenger Transport Terminal, City Slaughterhouse, and at Building 2 Public Market Complex. Meanwhile, request or job orders for desludging of septic tanks will still be processed at Fortin's office. He reminded consumers that they need to bring the billing statements when they pay the septage fees. Consumers who regularly pay the monthly environmental septage fees at P1.50 per cubic meter consumption can avail of the desludging services for their septic tanks for free every three years....
