Siquijor celebrates Nat’l Women’s Month 2025

LARENA, Siquijor (PIA) — The provincial government of Siquijor reaffirmed its commitment to empower women as it celebrated the National Women’s Month on March 7, 2025.

During the provincial celebration, lawyer Dale Tudtud, provincial chief of staff and provincial tourism officer, highlighted the importance of recognizing the invaluable contributions women make to society every day.

“This is truly your day, your time to shine. Women’s Day is the day women should be highlighted for how unique, beautiful, perfect, and how worthy each and single individual is,” said Tudtud.

He also reaffirmed the province’s commitment to empower women.

“The Capitol and the office are open for your plans, for your actions, to clear your thoughts, we are really here for you. Please do not be ashamed, do not be afraid, we are always here. There is no discrimination, we care for you,” Tudtud said.

The provincial government’s celebration, which took place at the Dugokanan sa Kapitolyo, aimed to acknowledge the achievements of women in the province.

The event featured a marching band competition exclusively for girls to showcase the talent and dedication of young women in music.
Candaping National High School emerged as the winner during the competition.

The festivities continued with a Modern Dance competition where the Municipality of Siquijor won the top prize.

A Mother’s Love Cooking Contest highlighted the culinary skills of mothers, with San Juan town adjudged as the winner for their dish of “Ginataang Indangan,” which consists of fish with coconut milk and vegetables.

A photography contest was also held for women photographers to showcase their stories through visual art.

This year’s National Women’s Month banners the theme: “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas.” (RAC/PIA7 Siquijor with reports from Katrina Bation and Jesseniah Faye Tumapon/Provincial Science High School)

OCD-7: ‘Only OCD can hold incident command system trainings’

(PIA-7)  CEBU CITY, CEBU (PIA) — Only the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) can conduct training on the Incident Command System (ICS). This was emphasized by OCD-7 regional director Joel Erestain during the 13th episode of the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas on Aug. 20 in Cebu City.  As the executive arm of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), OCD conducts ICS trainings, which is a standardized approach to managing emergency responses and disasters. “So kung mayro’ng mga iba na nagsasabi na nagte-train daw, hindi po sila accredited.
