1st RDC Quiz Bowl, caravan services cap RDC Week Celebration

CEBU CITY, Cebu, October 2 (PIA) -- The Regional Development Council 7 (RDC-7) capped its celebration of the 2023 RDC Week on October 2 by conducting its first ever RDC Quiz Bowl  along with the various presentations from government line government agencies and a caravan of government services.

Participants from 17 regional line agencies, grouped per RDC committee, engaged in an hour-long quiz bowl that featured 30 questions about the historical background, overview, functions, mandate, and other relevant information about the RDC. 

As a member-agency of the Development Administration Committee (DAC), the Philippine Information Agency 7 (PIA) was one of the participants in the quiz bowl, represented by Information Officer I Myrtle Pasigan.

The team representing the Regional Land Use Committee (RLAC), composed of the Department of Trade and Industry 7 and Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development, emerged as the first place winners of the quiz bowl.

Second place was the Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC) composed of Cebu Normal University, Cebu Technological University, and Department of Social Welfare and Development, while third place was DAC composed of the Department of Budget and Management, Department of Interior and Local Government, and PIA. 

Meanwhile, the culmination event also displayed RDC service booths that offered various government services from RDC member agencies.

Among the government agencies that joined were the Technical Education And Skills Development Authority, which showcased technical skills demonstration and exhibit; Department of Agriculture with their farmer’s product display and seedling distribution; Department of Health with their health check services such as free cholesterol, glucose and sugar tests, and bloodletting activity; Philippine Statistics Authority with their civil registration services and PhilSys ID assistance; and Social Security System and the Government Service Insurance System with their membership assistance services.

Other agencies that also participated were PhilHealth and Pagibig Fund, which offered their membership assistance services; Department of Social Welfare and Development with their Persons with Disability (PWD) product display and skills demonstration; and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas with their money exchange services.

Also part of the RDC Week culmination was the recognition of the RDC officials, where they were given a certificate of appreciation for their valuable contribution to the council, and the awarding of the recently concluded Association of Regional Executives of National Government Agencies 7 (ARENA-7) Sportsfest winners.

The 2023 RDC Week kicked off on September 25, 2023 with various activities, such as the Online Geographic Information System (GIS) and capacity-building training for local government units, the BSP Piso Caravan, and the RDC-7 Tree Growing Activity. (RGC/PIA7 Cebu)

PVAO to partner with hospitals for improved medical care access of veterans
