NegOr Tourism Council elects new set of officers

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Aug. 4 (PIA) -- The Negros Oriental Tourism Council (NOTC) has elected its news set of officers during its meeting on Aug. 2, 2023. 

The new set of officers who will work alongside with NOTC Chair and Provincial Tourism Board Executive Director Woodrow Maquiling Jr. include the following:

Vice-Chair: Glynda Descuatan of Dumaguete City Tourism Council (DCTC)

Secretary: Canlaon City Councilor Angel Amador-Soliva of 1st District Tourism Council

Treasurer: Royani Dy of Negros Oriental Resort, Restaurant & Hotel Association (NORRHA)

Auditor: Analynne Sison of Dauin Resort Association (DRA)

Planning & Product Development Committee Chair - Edward Du of Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce & Industry (NOCCI)      

Promotion & Marketing Committee Chair - Carlou Bernaldez of Negros Oriental State University (NORSU)

Human Development & Ethics Committee Chair - Donna Maturan of Sidlakang Negros Association of Tourism Officers (SINATO)

Sites, Services & Standard Committee Chair - Glenn Carballo of Negros Oriental Dive Association (NORDA)

Maquiling was earlier appointed as NOTC Chair by Gov. Manuel "Chaco" Sagarbarria after his assumption to office through Executive Order No. 3, s.2023.

Maquiling said that to signify the start of the new leadership for the province’s tourism industry, Sagarbarria created a tourism department to bring in more skilled people to run the office to achieve the goal of the tourism industry in the province.

A Local Economic Investment and Development Office is also being pushed under the Office of the Governor to ensure that the policies will enable to promote and address economic sector concerns. (JCT/PIA7 Negros Oriental)

'Barangayanihan' caravan bares accomplishments under PRRD

  CEBU CITY, Cebu, Oct. 24 (PIA) -- The Duterte Legacy Caravan in Cebu dubbed as “Barangayanihan Caravan Towards National Recovery” highlighted the various projects and programs implemented in Cebu under the Duterte administration that has brought about a positive change in the lives of its beneficiaries.  Cebu province benefited from several projects from the Duterte administration under the "Build, Build, Build" program such as bridges, diversion roads, evacuation centers, municipal buildings, public markets, road concreting, farm to market roads,  among others. EMB 7 creates composite team for water sampling

The Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) 7 of the Department of Environment Natural Resources Central Visayas on Tuesday, Dec. 28, has created a composite team for water sampling in the different parts of the region affected by Typhoon "Odette" (International name: Rai). The EMB 7 deployed two teams conducting ambient water sampling in the Northern Cebu (Liloan area, Consolacion, Mandaue and Mactan Coastal Area) and Southern Cebu (Cebu Port Area, Talisay, Naga and San Fernando). The bureau said the first two samples from Punta Engaño near Movenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu and Umapad, Mandaue City near the bridge and Petron) taken last Dec. 23 and 24 were brought to Ostrea Laboratory since the EMB laboratory cannot analyze due to no electricity.
