BSP brings Piso Caravan to Bohol


 

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, July 18 (PIA) -- The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Visayas Regional Office brought its Piso Caravan program to the province of Bohol to replace unfit and mutilated bank notes and coins.

The four-day caravan, which kicked-off on July 18 at the Old Tagbilaran City Airport, aims to ensure that people’s money are safe and clean.

BSP urged the public to replace their unfit currency with fresh banknotes and coins during the caravan. 

For July 18 and 19, the caravan will be at the Old Tagbilaran City Airport from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

This is in line with the Sandugo Agricultural Fair 2023 activity in partnership with the Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh).

On July 20, the caravan will proceed to the Rue de Premier at Alona Carpark in Panglao town from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m, then on July 21, the Piso caravan will be at the Sandugo Trade Expo at the Activity Area of the lsland City Mall in Tagbilaran City from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Unfit banknotes are money that are soiled, limp, stained, or have faded print, obvious writings, or markings.

Unfit coins, on the other hand, are those with corrosion or markings, according to Hazel Cultura, BSP Cebu bank officer.

Classified as mutilated banknotes are those with adhesive and staple wires; charred or decayed; with tear, hole, or missing part; and splitting of substrate.

Under Republic Act No. 7653, the BSP will retire or destroy all banknotes and coins found to be unfit, mutilated, or demonetized, including seized counterfeits.

This is the 15th leg of BSP Piso Caravan in the Visayas, according to Cultura. (ECB/PIA7 Bohol)

'Barangayanihan' caravan bares accomplishments under PRRD

EMB 7 creates composite team for water sampling

The Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) 7 of the Department of Environment Natural Resources Central Visayas on Tuesday, Dec. 28, has created a composite team for water sampling in the different parts of the region affected by Typhoon "Odette" (International name: Rai). The EMB 7 deployed two teams conducting ambient water sampling in the Northern Cebu (Liloan area, Consolacion, Mandaue and Mactan Coastal Area) and Southern Cebu (Cebu Port Area, Talisay, Naga and San Fernando). The bureau said the first two samples from Punta Engaño near Movenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu and Umapad, Mandaue City near the bridge and Petron) taken last Dec. 23 and 24 were brought to Ostrea Laboratory since the EMB laboratory cannot analyze due to no electricity.
