TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, July 30 (PIA) -- Aiming to build a stronger link that would showcase the inter-connectedness of businesses in the region and a more effective ease of doing business, Bohol Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI)  hosted on July 27-28, 2023 the 32nd Visayas Area Business Conference (VABC) at the Bellevue Hotel in Doljo, Panglao.

Leading and respected businessmen from all over the Visayas gathered to listen to speakers from the government, local government units (LGUs), national and local business communities, and foreign investors and organizations who shared their insights on local business, analyzed trends and potential opportunities in this thriving region.

Organized by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) and hosted by the BCCI, around 300 businessmen, resource persons, and delegates converged to listen to updates on business trends, especially when the strong retail industry in the region is now taken over by online selling, a trend that local and regional business establishments must adopt to, said BCCI Pesident Dominic Butalid during a General Membership Assembly held July 4, 2023 at the Bellevue.

With the theme "Exploring New Economic Frontiers in Technology, Governance and Innovation," the VABC invited resource speakers who presented to industry leaders in the region potential solutions, business hacks, and banking trends that could help them bring their businesses to the top, while helping the local economy recover from the pandemic.

Amid the recent designation of Bohol as a Global Geopark by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Butalid said the BCCI aims to maximize the added tourism and visitors for their educational and scientific and cultural studies in Bohol, Butalid added.

"We did not volunteer, but we were choses by popular demand," he shared.

On board as resource person during the conference was banker Eric Villanueva, a known financial wizard in banking and innovating business operations through the adoption of accurate procedures, compiling and analyzing accurate and timely fiscal reports or exceeding goals and expectations.

Another speaker was Senator Win Gatchalian, who sat as senate chairman of the Committee on Energy and Committee on Economic Affairs in the 17th Congress and now serves again as the chairman of the energy committee.

He talked about Powering Visayas Industries.

Senator Cynthia Villar was another plenary speaker who shared tips on developing business. (RAHC/PIA Bohol)
