BSP recognizes outstanding Visayas stakeholders for economic resiliency

CEBU CITY, Cebu, Feb. 28 (PIA) -- Giving importance to economic recovery and resiliency through partnership, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) awarded their outstanding Visayas stakeholders at the Grand Ballroom of Sheraton Cebu Mactan Resort on Feb. 28.

In his video message, BSP Governor Felipe Medalla cited the exceptional partnerships and expressed his gratitude to the outstanding stakeholders for their contributions and support to the central bank’s programs and goals for price stability, financial stability, and safe, secure, and efficient payment and settlement system.

“We hope that you will remain to be the BSP’s partners in the years to come," Medalla said.

"I hope that you will continue to inspire others with your dedication and hard work so that more people and organizations could join us in the challenging but fulfilling efforts toward a better quality of life for all Filipinos," he added. 

BSP Deputy Governor Bernadette Romulo-Puyat of the Regional Operations and Advocacy Sector, in her opening remarks, gave the importance of cooperation between public and private sectors as a significant component of the whole-of-nation approach to economic recovery.

"I hope that we will continue to work together toward achieving our shared goal of a robust, sustainable, and inclusive Philippine economy," she said.

Awardees of the 2022 Outstanding BSP Stakeholders are Land Bank of the Philippines Roxas City Branch, Bohol Bankers Association Inc., Metrobank Cebu, Bankers Association of Iloilo, Inc., Junior Financial Executives - Cebu Institute of Technology University, and Iloilo Supermarket Inc.

Since its inception in 2004, the program provides a platform for the BSP to celebrate meaningful partnerships that have a positive impact on the lives of Filipinos.

Last year, the central bank also recognized outstanding stakeholders from the National Capital Region, South Luzon, and Mindanao. (MYP/PIA7 Cebu)

Cebu hosts 1st Philippine Tourism Dive Dialogue

  CEBU CITY (PIA) -- The Department of Tourism (DOT) kicked off its first Philippine Tourism Dive Dialogue in Cebu on September 14, 2023, which gathered over 300 dive tourism stakeholders in the country. The two-day dialogue aims to address current issues in diving tourism, promote collaboration among public and private stakeholders, advocate for sustainable practices, discussions on safety, standards, and accreditation of tourism-related establishments (TREs) for scuba diving, and the exploration of promising investment opportunities within the dive industry to foster the growth of dive tourism in the Philippines.
