DOH7 launches 'PinasLakas' vax drive in Cebu City

CEBU CITY, Cebu, August 29 (PIA) -- In line with its regional campaign to increase booster vaccination among the general population, the Department of Health in Central Visayas (DOH7), along with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG7), and the Cebu City government held the "PinasLakas" Ceremonial Vaccination Campaign at the San Roque Parish, Mambaling, this city on August 27.

The campaign aims to support and advocate with the community for the increased uptake and demand of the COVID-19 vaccines, especially for booster doses.

It aims to bring the government’s vaccination program closer to the people by putting up vaccination sites in various areas such as malls, public markets, offices, workplaces, and places of worship.

The campaign is also in accordance with the directives of Pres. Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos, Jr. to achieve 90% coverage for the primary series of the COVID-19 vaccine for the A2 priority group or senior citizens, and 50% coverage for the first booster for the general population in the first 100 days of his administration.

"I believe we are all here and continually campaigning for the vaccination program despite the challenges because we all share the same goal and we are all connected with the one goal, and that is to make our country as pinakamalakas na Pilipinas," said DOH7 Assistant Regional Director Dr. Sofia M. Mancao in her message during the said event.

The activity was also attended by Cebu City Councilors Joy Pesquera and Francis Esparis and Cebu City Health Officer Dr. Jeffrey Ibones.

The “PinasLakas" ceremonial vaccination ended with the signing of the pledge of commitment to signify the full support to the government’s vaccination campaign. (RGC/PIA7 Cebu)
