TESDA, which leads the the Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and Employment Cluster (PRLEC 7) under the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), said they were already done with the consultations in 66 out of the 86 barangays.

After the consultations, we were able to identify the preferred programs that we will provide to these barangays, and TESDA will now go to these communities along with our partner agencies in the PRLEC such as the DOLE, DTI, CDA, DSWD, and DILG to provide the training, social development, and livelihood development programs,” said TESDA-7 Regional Director Gamaliel Vicente, Jr.

Vicente added that TESDA-7 has provided 973 slots as beneficiaries of the skills training programs for the 86 barangays.

An amount of P16 million was alloted by TESDA-7 as funding for the training programs to be extended to the beneficiaries of the 973 slots covering the provinces of Cebu, Bohol, and Negros Oriental.

Each training program for every barangay will have at least 25 beneficiaries per batch.

This will run for 20 to 28 days with some programs possibly taking more than 30 days.

Beneficiaries will receive a certificate of completion and starter toolkits after finishing the training programs.

The said programs will also be given for Persons with Disabilities (PDWs), senior citizens, as well as Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL).

Kami sa PRLEC, we will continue to deliver more programs to the grassroots level and to give the beneficiaries a better quality of life, for them to feel the presence of the government that no matter what, the government is always there to help them,” added Vicente.

TESDA-7 is targeting to provide skills training programs for at least 50% or 43 out of the total 86 barangays, before the end of the Duterte Administration on June 30. (RGC/PIA7)
