CEBU CITY, Cebu, March 13 (PIA) -- Newly-appointed Acting Presidential Spokesperson and Presidential Communications Office Secretary (PCOO) Martin Andanar on March 12 visited Cebu for his first media engagement since assuming his post as the new acting Palace spokesperson on March 8.
Andanar met with the officers of the Cebu Federation of Beat Journalists (CFBJ) and representatives from PCOO’s attached agencies Philippine Information Agency, Philippine News Agency, PTV, and Radyo Pilipinas at the Golden Prince Hotel, this city.
In his message, Andanar emphasized the importance of revolutionizing the government media by investing in artificial intelligence and algorithm technologies for a smooth, effective, and efficient delivery of public information.
“Future profits of government communications come from investing in artificial intelligence, investing in algorithm technologies, and also in investing time to amend specific provisions of the law that will allow the government to use and have access (to apps) so it can give public announcements,” said Andanar.
“If the government will not invest in the Last Mile Information delivery through artificial intelligence, I believe that we will have a difficult time in the competition to catch the attention of the audience,” he added.
Over the six years of the Duterte administration, the PCOO and its attached agencies under the leadership of Andanar implemented various reforms and innovations in handling government communications.
These developments, according to Andanar, were effective media strategies in relaying and promoting the advocacies of the government to the people as it resulted in the high trust and approval ratings of Pres. Rodrigo Duterte.
He also urged the media members to develop a sustainable communication mindset as this is an important tool in adapting towards the evolving trend of information delivery with the continued rise of digital media as a top communication platform.
The PCOO chief also answered some questions from the media on the government’s response to the ongoing issues and challenges of the country. (RGC/PIA7)
