PRESS RELEASE: DOE ensures increase in fuel deliveries to Bohol

  The Department of Energy (DOE) has made arrangements with major oil companies to increase the frequency of deliveries of gasoline and diesel fuels to Bohol Province starting Wednesday, Dec. 29, to address the high demand due to the increased use of generators sets amidst the power black-out in the province brought by the heavy damages in the power facilities after Typhoon "Odette" (International name: Rai).     According to Oil Industry Management Bureau (OIMB) Director Rino Abad in a virtual press conference Wednesday, Petron, Shell, and Philoil have agreed to fast track the deliveries of their liquid fuels products to Bohol from every 10 days to 5 days. Caltex, on the other hand, has arranged with Lite Shipping RORO vessels to augment the transport of their liquid fuels from Cebu. Meanwhile, Seaoil that mainly supplies liquid fuels to independent gasoline stations in Bohol, has agreed to deploy their fuel storage barge in Bohol with a capacity of 2 million liters to provi

EMB 7 creates composite team for water sampling

The Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) 7 of the Department of Environment Natural Resources Central Visayas on Tuesday, Dec. 28, has created a composite team for water sampling in the different parts of the region affected by Typhoon "Odette" (International name: Rai). The EMB 7 deployed two teams conducting ambient water sampling in the Northern Cebu (Liloan area, Consolacion, Mandaue and Mactan Coastal Area) and Southern Cebu (Cebu Port Area, Talisay, Naga and San Fernando). The bureau said the first two samples from Punta Engaño near Movenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu and Umapad, Mandaue City near the bridge and Petron) taken last Dec. 23 and 24 were brought to Ostrea Laboratory since the EMB laboratory cannot analyze due to no electricity. The office is still awaiting the result for these two samples which will be available by Wednesday, Dec 29.  It said the other samples taken on Tuesday will also be brought to Ostrea laboratory, an accredited laboratory of EMB 7. DENR 7 deploys chainsaws for clearing operation

  CEBU CITY, Dec. 28 -- The Department of Environment Natural Resources Central Visayas (DENR-7) has deployed a total of 34 chainsaws to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-7 and local government units on December 17, 2021 to assist in the immediate execution of clearing operations in roads and passageways in different parts of the region badly hit by Typhoon "Odette" (International name: Rai).  Along with its deployment, DENR 7 also submitted a complete list of their chainsaw inventory together with the complete list of permittees for chainsaw usage to the Emergency Operation Center of the Office of the Civil Defense for references. DPWH, AFP, PNP ramp up road clearing operations in CV

  CEBU CITY, Cebu, Dec. 28 (PIA) -- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) together with the Visayas Command Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) have conducted full scale road clearing operations in various areas in Central Visayas recently affected by Typhoon "Odette" (International name: Rai) last Dec. 16. The DPWH has deployed heavy equipment for debris clearing while the AFP provided its own personnel and also heavy equipment to assist in the clearing operations in areas heavily damaged by the typhoon. The Armed Forces deployed a backhoe, road grader, pay loader, two dump trucks and around 17 personnel for road clearing at the municipalities of Carcar to Barili, Barili to Ronda, and Balamban to Tuburan in Cebu Province. The team has cleared the 20-kilometer (km) National Highway from Toledo City to Pinamungajan, and 20 km National Highway from Aloguinsan to Mantalongon, Barili. The Department of Energy Central Visayas (DOE-7) said more transmission lines have been restored as of Tuesday, Dec. 28 in the entire region. Engr. William Carido, RDRRMC focal person of DOE-7, reported during the daily Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council-7 assessment meeting that some of the lines which were cut during the onslaught of Typhoon "Odette" (International name: Rai) last Dec. 16 are still ongoing restoration. Carido said that as of Tuesday, 22 out of 25 transmission lines in Cebu Province have already been restored, three in Bohol and six out of the 12 in Negros Oriental. DSWD 7 releases over 50K food packs to 461K families

(Photo by the Department of Social Welfare and Development Central Visayas)   The Department of Social Welfare and Development Central Visayas (DSWD-7) has released 58,488 family food packs (FFPs) to at least 461,000 families of the 31 out of 72 requesting local government units (LGUs) in Central Visayas as of December 26, 2021.  Daisy C. Lor, Disaster Response and Rehabilitation Section Head of the DSWD-7, said during the daily assessment meeting of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (RDRRMC) 7, the total cost of assistance has now reached P30,344,920 in the region that were affected by the onslaught of Tyhpoon Odette (International name: Rai). Out of the 58,488 relief packs delivered, 26,888 were allocated for Bohol, amounting to P12,502,920 while 16,600 more, worth P7,719,000 were set aside for Negros Oriental.
