Mayor thanks Duterte admin for more projects in Daanbantayan

CEBU CITY, Cebu, Oct. 25 (PIA) – Daanbantayan, Cebu Mayor Sun J. Shimura expressed his gratification to the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte for providing the municipality more programs, projects, and services on the 5th day of the Duterte Legacy Barangayanihan Caravan Cebu Leg held at the Lamberto R. Te Sr. Cultural Center in Daanbantayan on Monday, Oct. 25.

Mayor Shimura, in his welcome remarks, showcased the various infrastructure projects in Daanbantayan as part of the Build, Build, Build program of the Duterte administration. 

Shimura shared that the municipality was able to benefit from the P250-million road rehabilitation project and P36 million was also allocated for a new school structure intended for the students in Daanbantayan Central School. 

Moreover, the mayor said a P5 million worth of street lights and a P38-million evacuation center located in Brgy. Pajo were among the other projects that the town received from the Duterte administration.

He said that from having only one accredited resort, Daanbantayan now has 40 accredited resorts because of the programs that brings the government closer to the people. 

The local chief executive said Daanbantayan also received the financial assistance coming from the social amelioration program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development that helped its residents during the pandemic, adding that the anti-illegal drug campaign of the current administration yielded positive results wherein 13 out of the total 20 barangays in the municipality are now considered as drug-cleared places.

“Sa time ni President Rodrigo Duterte, we have seen a good and strong relationship between the national and local government unit and for two years, we have been receiving the mobile registration programs of the Department of Tourism,” Shimura said.

“Indeed, the platform of governance of our president stands very strong in his six-year term. We have a very good partnership with our national agencies such as Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine National Police, and Coast Guard especially in fighting against criminality, illegal drugs, and illegal fishing,” added Shimura.

The local chief executive asked for unity and cooperation from the barangay, local, up to the national level in order to achieve sustainable development and positive changes in this time of the crisis.

Daanbantayan is one of the hosts of the Duterte Legacy Barangayanihan Caravan Cebu Leg which is located at the northern tip of Cebu Island and is a first class municipality that is known for its several tourist destinations such as white beaches which attracted local and foreign tourists. 'Barangayanihan' caravan bares accomplishments under PRRD

EMB 7 creates composite team for water sampling

The Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) 7 of the Department of Environment Natural Resources Central Visayas on Tuesday, Dec. 28, has created a composite team for water sampling in the different parts of the region affected by Typhoon "Odette" (International name: Rai). The EMB 7 deployed two teams conducting ambient water sampling in the Northern Cebu (Liloan area, Consolacion, Mandaue and Mactan Coastal Area) and Southern Cebu (Cebu Port Area, Talisay, Naga and San Fernando). The bureau said the first two samples from Punta Engaño near Movenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu and Umapad, Mandaue City near the bridge and Petron) taken last Dec. 23 and 24 were brought to Ostrea Laboratory since the EMB laboratory cannot analyze due to no electricity.
