Dr. Jeffrey Ibones, head of the Cebu City Health Department, said the ceremonial vaccination on Nov. 29 will be held after the flag raising ceremony to be attended by Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama, City Hall employees, among others.
Ibones said that in agreement with the CAP cluster, a representative from each priority group, namely: healthcare workers/frontliners (A1), senior citizens (A2), persons with comorbidities (A3), indigent population (A5), and pediatric groups will be part of the ceremony.
A booster dose will also be given to representatives from the general population.
He said Cebu City will have 90 sites for the National Vaccination Day as they plan to inoculate at least 32,000 individuals a day to reach close to 100,000 target population for the three-day activity.
For the entire Central Visayas, the target population to be inoculated is 1,328,478 with daily target of 442,826 individuals.
As of Nov. 21, Cebu City is at 68.1% coverage for first dose and 58.1% coverage for second dose.
Meanwhile, Central Visayas is at 41.0% for first dose and 34.7% coverage for second dose.
The National Vaccination Days, dubbed as Bayanihan Bakunahan, is a three-day mass vaccination drive aimed at inoculating 15 million Filipinos across 16 regions outside of Metro Manila.
The nationwide immunization drive will be held on Nov. 29 to Dec. 1, which have earlier been declared by Pres. Rodrigo Duterte as special working days to gain wide public backing.
The cluster, which is composed of the Philippine Information Agency-7, Department of Health-7, and the Department of the Interior and Local Government-7, has now expanded to include the Department of Education, the Commission on Higher Education, and other partner agencies.
The CAP Cluster aims to inform, educate, and boost the people's confidence in the fight against COVID-19 through vaccination. (IDC/PIA7)
