CEBU CITY, Cebu, Oct. 21 (PIA) -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-7) and the Technical Education and Skills Authority (TESDA-7) showcased its top programs and services as the Duterte Legacy Caravan Cebu leg kicked off on Oct. 21 in Lapu-Lapu City and the Municipality of Cordova.
DSWD-7 highlighted the success of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) as millions of Filipino families have benefited from the said program.
The financial assistance distributed under the 4Ps has made a valuable and relevant contribution as family-beneficiaries experienced a positive change in their lives when they became 4Ps members.
Some beneficiaries shared their testimonies on the big impact of 4Ps in their lives.
Rosavilla Aman Moli, a Pantawid Pamilya parent leader from Brgy. Canjulao, Lapu-Lapu City, thanked Pres. Rodrigo Duterte for institutionalizing the 4Ps.
“Dako akong pasalamat sa mga tawong nitabang ani nga mahimung balaod ang 4Ps. Salamat Pres. Duterte sa walay pagduha-duha nga imu gyud ming gidawat. Malipayon kaayo mi nga daghan pang matabangan sa mga umaabot pang mga proyekto (I am very thankful to the people who turned 4Ps into a law. Thank you, Pres. Duterte, for making us beneficiaries of this program. We are happy that the government programs are helping more people),” Moli said.
She added that the 4Ps program has extensively helped the poor families especially in ensuring that the children finish their education.
Meanwhile, Carmelita Manayon, also a 4Ps beneficiary from Brgy. Dapitan in Cordova, thanked both DSWD and the Duterte administration for helping them through the Pantawid program.
“Akong gipasalamatan ang 4Ps kay nakatabang kaayu siya sa akong pamilya, kay nakapadayun gyud og eskwela akong mga anak. Napun-an og income namung mga ginikanan tungod sa tabang sa Pantawid og kani ang nagpadasig namu sa pagpaningkamot (“I would like to thank the 4Ps because it has been a big help to my family as my children was able to continue going to school. It gave an additional income to us as parents, and this has motivated us to work harder),” said Manayon.
The Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program serves as a human development program of the national government that provides cash grants to the poorest of the poor with the goal to alleviate their immediate need and enhance the status of health and education of their children and other family members.
On the other hand, TESDA-7 led by its Asst. Regional Director Floro Ringca awarded scholarship grants and financial assistance to selected scholars.
Junard Abalos, CSWDO head of Lapu-lapu City, received the certificate that awarded 254 scholarship slots intended for the Tile Setting NC II course being offered by TESDA-7.
TESDA-7 also turned over P7,900 worth of training allowance to one of its scholars, Josephine Megabon, as part of the Student Financial Assistance Program.
The agency also distributed starter toolkits to beneficiaries to help them start their own livelihood.
Kevin Ybanez, an NC I scholar of TESDA-7, was given a livelihood starter toolkit while another scholar, Van Casquejo also received a toolkit portable welding machine.
TESDA continues to offer skills development trainings, scholarship and financial assistance, and livelihood programs to provide more employment opportunities and improve the living status of the Filipino people. (RGC/PIA7)
