Bohol needs half million vax to hit herd immunity

CEBU CITY, Cebu, Feb. 2 (PIA) -- With the recent updated list of individuals identified for vaccination following the opening of minors for inoculation against coronavirus disease, Bohol would need at least 570,12 more vaccine doses to achieve its goal of herd immunity.  The number does not include the booster doses which the government is also giving out after individuals have received their full doses of the vaccine.  In its Jan. 2 report, the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) of the Bohol Provincial Vaccine Operations Center (PVOC) based at the Provincial Health Office upgraded its number of eligible population in the masterlist to 1,009,34. This figure already reflects the 12 to 17-year-old population that has been included in the expanded sector for vaccination.  With this number, and with at least two doses needed for an individual to get full protection against the virus, Bohol would need 2,019,268 doses to reach 70% of its population. (RAFI) based in Cebu has extended its relief food packs assistance worth P6 million to badly hit households affected by typhoon Odette in Negros Oriental. RAFI Team Head John Rivera said a total of 10,036 households received their relief packs in 10 municipalities and cities in the province. Rivera thanked Gov. Roel Degamo for lending some dump trucks to be used for distributing the food packs to Bais City, Mabinay, Manjuyod, Bindoy, Tayasan, Jimalalud, La Libertad, Guihulngan City, Mabinay, and Basay. Tagbilaran City leads active COVID-19 cases in Bohol

  CORTES, Bohol, Jan. 29 (PIA) -- Tagbilaran City logged the highest number of active COVID-19 cases in the province with 325 active cases, as Bohol sees 1,132 confirmed cases of the virus on Jan. 29 at 9:00 p.m.  Next in the highest number of active cases is Dauis with 61 and Baclayon with 45.  On the other hand, Panglao recorded 31 active COVID-19 cases, Loon with 23, Cortes with 22, and Maribojoc, Alburquerque and Antequera with 20 active cases each.  Except for Corella, towns near Tagbilaran City have elevated number of cases, most of them seeing a rising trend after the holidays. Across the island, Ubay in Bohol’s northeastern part records 45 active COVID cases, with Talibon coming in close with 43 cases, Trinidad with 15, and Alicia with 12. On the southern part, Dimiao recorded 28 active COVID cases, while nearby Valencia logged 20 cases, and Carmen - which also shares a common border with the said towns - recorded 26 cases. Bohol fixes eligible population for vax to 1.009M

  CORTES, Bohol, Jan. 29 (PIA) -- Some 47,762 Boholanos have been added to the vaccine eligible masterlist, the updated data from the Bohol Inter Agency Task Force (BIATF) on the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease showed. In its Jan. 26 COVID-19 Vaccination Report, the BIATF updated its total number of Boholanos who are eligible for the vaccines at 1,009,634. The new figure is 47,762 more than the initial number in the eligible list for anti-COVID-10 vaccination which was initially pegged at 961,762. The updated list will consequently increase the number of vaccines that Bohol would need to attain herd immunity. With 1,009,634 in the list, Bohol would at least need 2,019,267 doses of the vaccines to fully protect those in the masterlist. According to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in its official census of 2020, Bohol has a population of 1,394,329.
